Protecting Fuels, Hydraulics, and Lubricants from Free Water Contamination
Skytech Ultrafab Water Absorbent Filter Bags are engineered to selectively absorb and retain free and emulsified water from diesel fuel, aviation fuel, hydraulic oil, lubricating oil, and transformer oil in storage tanks, transfer lines, and fuel dispensing systems. The super-absorbent polymer-enhanced media swells and seals upon water saturation, providing a visual change-indicating feature that protects engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical equipment.
What Are Water Absorbent Filter Bags?
Water Absorbent Filter Bags use a specialised filter media incorporating super-absorbent polymer (SAP) particles or a hydrophilic absorbent fibre layer that selectively captures and retains free and emulsified water from non-aqueous liquids such as diesel, jet fuel, hydraulic oil, and transformer oil. Unlike water-separating filter cartridges that coalesce and drain water separately, water-absorbent bags lock captured water within the bag media through absorption and gelation — preventing re-entrainment.
Water Absorbent Filter Bags
Features and Benefits
-
Super-Absorbent Polymer Media:
SAP particles embedded in the filter media absorb and lock water molecules in a gel state — preventing re-entrainment of absorbed water back into the fuel or oil stream
-
Visual Saturation Indication:
The super-absorbent polymer swells visibly as it absorbs water — the expanding bag provides a clear visual indication that water saturation is approaching the replacement threshold
-
Selective Water Absorption:
Media absorbs water while allowing the hydrocarbon phase (fuel or oil) to pass through freely — oil throughput is not impeded during normal dry service
-
Broad Fuel and Oil Compatibility:
Compatible with diesel, aviation kerosene (Jet A-1), hydraulic fluid, lubricating oil, and transformer oil — covering all major industrial and transportation fuel types
-
Multiple Bag Sizes:
Available in sizes 1 and 2 with water absorption capacities from 1 litre to 10 litres per bag depending on media grade and bag size selected
-
Standard Housing Compatibility:
PP ring-top (P1/P2) and snap-band closures for direct installation in standard liquid bag filter housings without modification
Applications
-
Diesel Fuel Storage Tanks:
Absorbing water accumulation from condensation and fuel delivery in bulk diesel storage tanks — preventing microbial growth and fuel system corrosion
-
Aviation Fuel Systems:
Free water removal from aviation fuel handling systems and refuelling vehicles — meeting IATA fuel quality standards for water content
-
Hydraulic Systems:
Removing water ingress from hydraulic reservoirs in construction, mining, and industrial equipment — preventing hydraulic pump and valve damage from water contamination
-
Transformer Oil Filtration:
Water removal from transformer dielectric oil in electrical switchgear maintenance — maintaining the insulation quality and breakdown voltage of transformer oil
-
Lubricating Oil Systems:
Free water removal from circulating lube oil systems in compressors, turbines, and industrial gearboxes — preventing bearing corrosion and oil oxidation
Why Choose Skytech Ultrafab for Water Absorbent Filter Bags?
-
SAP Technology:
Super-absorbent polymer media locks absorbed water permanently in gel form — no risk of water re-entrainment into the fuel or oil stream under flow or pressure fluctuation
-
Dual Function:
Water absorption and particle filtration combined in a single bag — replaces separate water-separation and particle-filtration stages in many fuel system configurations
-
Visual Change Indication:
SAP swell provides maintenance personnel with an unambiguous visual signal that the bag has reached water saturation — eliminating guesswork on bag change intervals
-
Standard Housing Compatible:
P1/P2 ring-top bags install in standard bag filter housings already present in most fuel handling and oil systems — no capital expenditure for new equipment
-
Technical Selection Support:
Application engineers assist with water absorption capacity sizing based on estimated water ingress rate and required service interval in your specific fuel or oil system
