Gentle Low-Energy Cleaning for Large-Scale High-Temperature Baghouses
Skytech Ultrafab Reverse Air Baghouse filter bags are woven or felt filter media engineered for the reverse-air cleaning mechanism used in large baghouse dust collectors in coal-fired power plants, cement kilns, and aluminium smelters. These bags rely on gentle flow reversal for cleaning — preserving media integrity and enabling longer service life versus pulse-jet alternatives. Woven fibreglass with PTFE treatment is the standard specification for high-temperature units; polyester woven is used for ambient applications.
What Are Reverse Air Baghouse Bags?
In a reverse-air baghouse, compartments of filter bags are periodically taken offline and cleaned by reversing the airflow direction — gently collapsing the bag inward and releasing the dust cake without any mechanical shock or compressed air pulse. Because the cleaning energy is very low, the filter media can be thinner and lighter than pulse-jet bags, and the bags tend to last longer when operated within their thermal design limits. Reverse-air systems are particularly well-suited to large power plant and cement kiln applications where baghouse compartment sizes are very large.
Reverse Air Bag Houses
Features and Benefits
-
Designed for Gentle Reversal Cleaning:
Woven and lightweight felt constructions optimised for the low-stress reversal cleaning mechanism — maintaining media integrity through hundreds of thousands of cleaning cycles
-
High-Temperature Woven Fibreglass:
E-glass woven fabric with PTFE treatment provides the standard specification for coal-fired boiler and cement kiln reverse-air baghouses operating at up to 260°C
-
PTFE Treatment and Membrane:
Standard PTFE finish reduces dust adhesion and improves cake release during reversal; ePTFE membrane lamination available for sub-micron emission compliance
-
Precise Snap Ring Fitment:
Precision-fitted stainless steel or galvanised snap rings ensure bags seat correctly in the tube-sheet holes and maintain the correct bag tension for effective reversal cleaning
-
Long Custom Bag Lengths:
Bags manufactured up to 12 m in length for large power plant baghouse compartments — joined seams only where unavoidable, minimising bypass risk
-
Dimensional Stability:
Woven construction resists thermal shrinkage and maintains precise bag diameter and length throughout the operating temperature cycle

Applications
-
Coal-Fired Power Plants:
Large reverse-air baghouses on boiler flue gas systems — woven fibreglass bags handle the combined high temperature and fly ash abrasion of coal combustion
-
Cement Kiln Exhaust:
Kiln inlet and outlet reverse-air baghouses where the large compartment size and continuous duty make reverse-air the preferred cleaning technology
-
Aluminium Smelting:
Pot room ventilation and anode baking furnace fume collection in large reverse-air baghouses with high-temperature PTFE-treated glass bags
-
Ferroalloy Production:
High-temperature alloy furnace off-gas filtration where the large gas volume and elevated temperature suit reverse-air baghouse technology
-
Municipal Solid Waste Incineration:
Reverse-air systems in older incinerator installations where the low cleaning energy preserves PTFE bag integrity in acidic flue gas conditions
