Leak-Proof Seam Integrity for Critical Liquid Filtration Applications
Skytech Ultrafab Sewn/Welded Filter Bags are available in both precision-stitched and thermally/ultrasonically welded seam constructions to meet the most demanding liquid filtration specifications. Sewn bags use heavy-duty chemically resistant thread for robust multi-pass durability; welded bags eliminate stitch holes entirely for zero-bypass, absolute-rated filtration. Manufactured from felt, woven, or membrane media in polypropylene, polyester, nylon, and PTFE.
What Are Sewn and Welded Filter Bags?
Standard liquid filter bags use a sewn seam — interlocking thread stitches that join the body fabric and bottom disc. Sewn bags are durable and economical but have microscopic needle holes along the seam that can allow a tiny fraction of particles to bypass filtration. Welded filter bags use thermal, sonic, or adhesive bonding to fuse the fabric edges without any needle penetration — creating a completely impermeable seam that guarantees zero particle bypass at the seam zone.
Sewn/Welded Filter Bags
Features and Benefits
-
Sewn Seam Option:
Double lock-stitch with chemically resistant polypropylene or nylon thread — the most durable construction for general industrial and multi-cycle filtration applications
-
Heat-Welded Seam Option:
Thermal welding fuses fabric faces together without thread or needle holes — creating an impermeable seam for applications requiring absolute particle retention
-
Ultrasonic-Welded Seam Option:
High-frequency ultrasonic energy bonds synthetic fabric layers in milliseconds — ideal for thin membrane media where thermal welding risks material degradation
-
Multiple Media Types:
Available in needle-felt, woven monofilament, and membrane media combinations — the seam construction is independent of the filtration media chosen
-
All Standard Closures:
PP ring (P1/P2), SS ring, snap-band, drawstring, and velcro tie-top closures available in both sewn and welded body constructions
-
Custom Fabrication:
Any combination of ring size, bag body diameter, length, fabric, and seam type produced to customer specification within 5–7 working days

Applications
-
Paint Spray Booth Filtration:
Welded bags in paint circulation and spray booth water curtain systems where seam bypass causes paint contamination of filtered product
-
Pharmaceutical Liquid Filtration:
Welded membrane bags for sterile liquid hold and transfer filtration where zero-bypass seam integrity is a process validation requirement
-
Chemical Process Filtration:
Chemically resistant PP or PTFE welded bags for aggressive liquid filtration where stitch thread chemical compatibility is uncertain
-
Food and Beverage:
Sewn food-grade felt bags for beverage and edible oil filtration; welded options where regulatory requirements specify zero-bypass construction
-
General Industrial Filtration:
Sewn felt and woven bags for the broadest range of industrial process liquid filtration applications where multi-cycle durability is the primary requirement
Why Choose Skytech Ultrafab for Sewn/Welded Filter Bags?
-
Both Technologies In-House:
Skytech maintains sewn, heat-welded, and ultrasonic-welded seam capabilities — the right technology is matched to the application, not the equipment available
-
Seam Integrity Testing:
Welded bags tested for seam strength and continuity before despatch — test reports available for pharmaceutical and regulated applications
-
Broadest Media Range:
Any needle-felt, woven, or membrane media can be fabricated with either sewn or welded seam construction — no restriction on media-seam combinations
-
Technical Selection Help:
Application engineers advise on sewn vs welded seam selection based on filtration duty, chemical environment, and bypass sensitivity requirements
-
Fast Turnaround:
Standard size and media combinations available from stock; custom seam-media combinations produced within 5–7 working days
