What Are Activated Carbon Filter Cartridges?

Activated Carbon is a highly porous form of carbon produced by controlled pyrolysis and steam or chemical activation of organic materials (coal, coconut shell, wood). The enormous internal surface area — typically 500–1500 m²/g — adsorbs organic molecules, chlorine, and other contaminants from water as it flows through the carbon bed, improving taste, odour, and chemical quality.
