Chemical Inertness and Thermal Stability for the Most Demanding Process Fluids
Skytech Ultrafab PTFE Filter Cartridges combine an expanded PTFE membrane with PTFE support structures for absolute-rated filtration of aggressive solvents, strong acids, strong alkalis, oxidising agents, and high-purity chemical streams in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, chemical, and petrochemical industries. Hydrophobic PTFE membrane options provide vent filtration and sterile gas filtration; hydrophilic versions handle challenging liquid filtration. Available in 10-inch to 40-inch lengths with all-PTFE or polypropylene housings for maximum chemical compatibility.
What Are PTFE Filter Cartridges?
PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) filter cartridges use an expanded PTFE (ePTFE) membrane as the filtration element. ePTFE membrane is produced by stretching PTFE polymer to create a network of interconnected nodes and fibrils — forming a tortuous path membrane with precise, uniform pore sizes. PTFE is chemically inert to virtually all acids, alkalis, solvents, and oxidising agents, and maintains its properties from -200°C to +260°C. These properties make PTFE cartridges the only viable option for the most chemically aggressive liquid and gas filtration applications.
PTFE Filter Cartridges
Features and Benefits
-
Universal Chemical Resistance:
PTFE is inert to virtually all acids (including HF and HNO3), alkalis, organic solvents, oxidising agents, and halogens — covering chemical service that no other polymeric membrane can handle
-
Hydrophobic and Hydrophilic Grades:
Hydrophobic ePTFE for gas vent and sterile air filtration; hydrophilic (surface-treated) ePTFE for aggressive liquid filtration — both grades in all standard cartridge sizes
-
Absolute Sub-Micron Retention:
ePTFE membrane provides absolute-rated retention from 0.1 µm to 1.0 µm with consistent pore size throughout the membrane — verified by bubble point and particle challenge testing
-
260°C Temperature Rating:
PTFE retains full chemical resistance and membrane integrity up to 260°C — the highest continuous temperature rating of any polymeric membrane filter cartridge
-
Sterile Gas and Vent Filtration:
Hydrophobic PTFE cartridges provide absolute 0.2 µm bacterial retention for tank vent, fermenter off-gas, and autoclave air filtration applications
-
Low Extractables:
PTFE is inherently non-leaching — cartridges contribute negligible extractables to high-purity process streams in semiconductor and pharmaceutical applications
