Rigid Chemical-Resistant Depth Filtration for Aggressive Process Liquids
Skytech Ultrafab Sintered Non-Metallic Filter Cartridges are moulded from sintered polypropylene or polyethylene powder in a rigid, self-supporting structure providing excellent chemical resistance, mechanical strength, and consistent pore structure throughout the cartridge depth. Used in aggressive chemical service, electroplating, acid plating bath filtration, RO pre-filtration, and environmental applications where metallic or membrane cartridges fail due to chemical attack. Absolute-rated from 1 µm to 100 µm; reusable by acid or alkali cleaning; available in all standard cartridge lengths and end fittings.
What Are Sintered Non-Metallic Filter Cartridges?
Sintered non-metallic filter cartridges are produced by filling a cylindrical mould with ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) or polypropylene powder and heating the mould until the powder particles fuse together at their contact points — a process called sintering. The fused powder particles create a rigid, uniform, three-dimensional pore network throughout the full cartridge wall. Unlike wound, melt-blown, or resin-bonded cartridges, sintered cartridges have an absolutely consistent pore structure from surface to core — providing reproducible filtration performance and mechanical strength without any binder, adhesive, or support structure.
Sintered (Non-Metallic) Filter Cartridges
Features and Benefits
-
Rigid Self-Supporting Structure:
Sintered powder construction creates a mechanically strong, rigid cartridge that maintains dimensional stability under high differential pressure, elevated temperature, and aggressive chemical cleaning cycles
-
Consistent Uniform Pore Structure:
Sintering produces a uniform three-dimensional pore network from surface to core — no variation in pore size between the outer surface and the centre of the cartridge wall
-
Reusable by Chemical Cleaning:
Sintered cartridges are cleaned by acid washing, alkali soaking, or back-flushing and returned to service — providing a reusable filtration element with significantly lower long-term cost than disposable alternatives
-
Broad Chemical Resistance:
Polypropylene sintered: pH 1–14 resistance to acids, alkalis, and most solvents; UHMWPE sintered: exceptional abrasion resistance in addition to broad chemical compatibility
-
No Binder or Adhesive Extractables:
Purely sintered construction — no resin, adhesive, or support media present — eliminates extractable contamination from binder components in process-critical chemical filtration
-
Backwash and CIP Compatible:
Sintered structure withstands reverse flow backwashing and CIP chemical cleaning without structural degradation — enabling in-situ cleaning without cartridge removal in some installations

Applications
-
Electroplating and Surface Treatment:
Acid and alkali plating bath filtration where sintered PP withstands continuous immersion in aggressive plating chemicals that rapidly degrade polymeric and metallic alternatives
-
Chemical Manufacturing:
Process stream filtration for acids, alkalis, and inorganic salt solutions in chemical manufacturing where the rigid sintered structure tolerates high-pressure fluctuations and chemical cleaning
-
RO Pre-Filtration:
Sintered cartridges in aggressive feedwater pre-filtration before RO membranes — their reusability and chemical cleaning capability make them cost-effective in heavily fouled feed water applications
-
Battery and Semiconductor Manufacturing:
Electrolyte and ultra-pure acid filtration in battery and semiconductor manufacturing — sintered PP provides chemical inertness and the low extractables profile required for ultra-pure process chemicals
-
Environmental Remediation:
Contaminated groundwater and leachate filtration where aggressive chemical matrices would rapidly degrade conventional polymeric depth cartridges — sintered PP provides durable long-service filtration
Why Choose Skytech Ultrafab for Sintered (Non-Metallic) Filter Cartridges?
-
Reusability Cost Advantage:
Sintered cartridges cleaned and returned to service multiple times — total cost of ownership substantially below disposable depth cartridges in chemical applications with frequent cleaning cycles
