Rigid Depth Filtration for Water Treatment and Process Liquid Clarification
Skytech Ultrafab Resin Bonded Filter Cartridges are manufactured from cotton or polypropylene fibre impregnated with thermosetting resin, creating a rigid, self-supporting depth filter structure with uniform porosity throughout the cartridge wall. Used primarily in drinking water treatment, industrial water pre-treatment, sugar clarification, beer filtration, and textile effluent polishing, resin-bonded cartridges offer good dirt-holding capacity, structural rigidity at elevated temperatures, and economical pricing compared to pleated membrane alternatives. Available from 1 µm to 100 µm in 10-inch to 40-inch lengths.
What Are Resin Bonded Filter Cartridges?
Resin bonded filter cartridges are depth filtration elements produced by impregnating natural cotton or polypropylene staple fibre with a thermosetting resin binder and moulding the composite into a rigid cylindrical cartridge body. The resin cures to bond the fibres in place, creating a rigid self-supporting structure with a consistent pore structure throughout the full wall thickness. Unlike wound cartridges that rely only on mechanical fibre entanglement, or melt-blown cartridges that rely on thermal bonding, resin-bonded cartridges use chemical bonding to fix the filtration structure — providing greater rigidity and structural stability at elevated temperatures.
Resin Bonded Filter Cartridges
Features and Benefits
-
Rigid Self-Supporting Structure:
Thermosetting resin binder creates a rigid cartridge body that maintains dimensional stability at elevated temperatures and under moderate pressure — preventing telescoping or collapse under operating conditions
-
Uniform Porosity Depth Filtration:
Consistent resin distribution throughout the fibre matrix creates uniform porosity across the full cartridge wall — delivering predictable particle retention and pressure drop performance
-
Good High-Temperature Stability:
Resin-bonded construction maintains structural integrity at higher temperatures than wound or melt-blown cartridges — suitable for hot water and elevated temperature process fluid applications
-
Cotton and PP Fibre Options:
Cotton fibre for general water treatment, food, and beverage applications; PP fibre for chemical service requiring natural-fibre-free construction and broader chemical compatibility
-
High Dirt-Holding Capacity:
Depth filtration structure throughout the full cartridge wall provides high solid loading before pressure drop end-of-life — extended service intervals in moderate-turbidity feed water applications
-
Economical Pricing:
Resin-bonded cartridges are among the most cost-effective depth filtration options — the preferred choice for high-volume water treatment applications where cartridge cost is the primary selection criterion

Applications
-
Drinking Water Treatment:
Sediment and turbidity removal in municipal and commercial drinking water filtration systems — cotton resin-bonded cartridges provide economical pre-filtration ahead of activated carbon and UV treatment stages
-
Industrial Water Pre-Treatment:
Process water pre-filtration in boiler feed, cooling tower, and industrial water systems — removing suspended solids before softeners, RO membranes, or ion exchange resin beds
-
Sugar Industry:
Cane juice and sugar liquor clarification in sugar refinery filtration systems — resin-bonded cartridges handle the high turbidity and variable quality of raw cane juice efficiently
-
Beer and Beverage Filtration:
Rough filtration of beer, fruit juice, and other beverages in pre-clarification duty before fine filtration — cotton resin-bonded provides food-contact compatible coarse particle removal
-
Textile Effluent:
Suspended solid removal from textile dyeing and finishing effluent streams before discharge treatment — resin-bonded cartridges handle the high particle loading of textile process wastewater
Why Choose Skytech Ultrafab for Resin Bonded Filter Cartridges?
-
Both Fibre Types In-House:
Cotton and PP resin-bonded cartridges both manufactured in-house — the appropriate fibre type recommended for each application based on process fluid chemistry and food-contact requirements
-
Consistent Resin Loading:
Precise resin impregnation process ensures uniform porosity and consistent pressure drop across every cartridge in a production batch — no inter-cartridge variation in performance
-
High Volume Capability:
High-capacity production of resin-bonded cartridges for large municipal water treatment, sugar, and industrial water treatment projects requiring very large cartridge volumes
-
Economic Pricing:
Among the lowest-cost depth filtration cartridges available — well-suited to high-volume, cost-sensitive water treatment applications where budget is the primary consideration
-
Rapid Dispatch:
All common micron ratings and lengths held in stock for immediate dispatch — critical for municipal water treatment plants that cannot tolerate extended supply delays
